"We should have worked harder...."

March 2, 2011
So its been a while since I have done one of these, I have been caught up with life.

Anyhow, today was a good day at Bosco.  Our girls volleyball team has qualified for AA OFSAA, so they held a buy-out this afternoon that included a dunk-off and a 3 point shootout (I won neither, but chose not to compete in the dunk off to save the embarrassment for the students to lose to their coach...hahaha).  Luckily a few of our former players came out to support the cause and put on a little show.

In my conversation with one of the guys, we talked about our OFSAA year and that is when he told me something interesting.  He told me how him and some of the other guys talk about what the outcome would have been had they worked harder during that year.  To their defense, these guys worked very hard that year and qualifying for OFSAA was a great accomplishment, it was the first time in the schools' history that a boys basketball team had done so.  But it really brought up an interesting point to me... "What if they did work harder?"  5 of the players from that team have gone on to play collegiate basketball and they are all obviously a couple of years older and they say hindsight is 20/20.

So I guess this message is really for all of the younger guys.  This was probably the most talented team Bosco has ever had and these guys are now disappointed that they didn't live up to their potential and put the work in when it mattered.  I really hope that this message gets across to some of younger guys and guys still in the Bosco program or even some of you guys who still play.  Don't live your life with regret, put everything you have into everything you do and you will never look back and say "WHAT IF....."

Senior Season so far....

January 11, 2011
What a season so far with the Senior Boys.  I have never heard or been a part of something like this.

Our season started off a little rough.  We had a tough opening game against Johnson, a rival and a good team.  We played a solid game up until the 4th quarter where we just couldn't seem to find a basket and ended up losing by 11.  I then came into the school on Monday morning to find out one of my starters had been expelled from school and another one of my returning players was going to be s...

Tough Times Ahead

November 19, 2010
First off, I want to congratulate the Don Bosco Junior Boys Football team on their great season.  Even though they came up a little short in the City Finals, they represented themselves, the school and their families remarkably and fought right until the end.  Special shout outs to my guys on the squad, Shaemar Lawson, D'Andre Cuellar, Devante Smith, Michael Blackwood, Wilton Williams, Tristan Edwards & Nathan Atanda.

Now on to basketball.

Needless to say the last few weeks have been a bit roug...

Start of a New Year

November 4, 2010
Well we have been working out for the past two months, but I finally picked my squads last week, but more on that in a bit.

First a little about me.

This is my third season at Bosco.  In my first year, I took on head coaching responsibilities for the Varsity Girls and the Junior Boys and helped out with the Senior Boys.  Last year, I was not able to be around the Seniors as much, as my responsibilities didn't allow it, I was also coaching a rep team, as well as the Juniors and the Girls.  Thi...
